15 years ago, we made a conscious decision to look beyond the semiconductor industry. A choice that sparked the creation of new companies such as Demcon life sciences & health and Demcon defense & security systems, markets where we saw opportunities to broaden our impact through technology and innovation.
''We finance all our innovations through our profit. There is no venture capital in Demcon. The money we earn, we translate into new activities. We are always looking for the right 'hooks'.''
In the interview, Dennis also reflects on the bigger picture: ''The Netherlands is an innovation country, and we must not squander that strength. Our prosperity today and tomorrow depends on it. While start-ups continue to emerge, scaling them into mature, impactful companies remains a major challenge. And without new companies, breakthrough technologies struggle to find their way into society.''
