North Brabant province invests 4 million euros in further development of molten salt reactor

The province of North Brabant is investing nearly 4 million euros in the further development of a new generation of nuclear reactors. A consortium of the companies Thorizon, VDL Groep and DEMCON will work in Brabant in the coming years to develop and test crucial components for a molten salt reactor. This investment should lead to new market opportunities for Brabant's high-quality manufacturing industry.

Demcon joins TNO and University of Twente to accelerate photonic chip innovation

Demcon has partnered with TNO and the University of Twente to accelerate low-energy modulation of silicon nitride (SiN) photonic chips. A consortium of Dutch technology companies – DEMCON, Thorizon, and VDL Group – signed a project agreement last December. Their shared mission: to achieve a breakthrough in the development of Small Modular Reactors (SMRs), specifically molten salt reactors. These innovative nuclear reactors promise a safe, scalable, and sustainable contribution to the energy transition.

FSO and partners to deliver satellite to the Netherlands in 2027

PAMI-1 is the first in a series of satellites to strengthen Dutch space capabilities FSO Instruments and partners will develop, build and launch a satellite for the Netherlands’ Armed Forces to be launched in 2027. The satellite, PAMI-1, will support intelligence gathering for the Netherlands by offering a sovereign capability to monitor earth from space. PAMI-1 will also demonstrate laser satellite communication technology that provides fast and secure transfer of information, back to a ground station as well as to other satellites.

SEISMIC consortium secures €23.5 million IHI grant to pioneer next-generation minimally invasive brain treatments

Curix, part of the Demcon group, today announced that the SEISMIC research consortium, coordinated by Philips, together with the Erasmus MC as academic lead, has been awarded funding from the Innovative Health Initiative (IHI) to transform neurosurgery through the seamless integration of minimally invasive surgical techniques and advanced imaging technologies. The EUR 23.5 million public funding will be complemented by EUR 14.9 million in in-kind contributions and additional resources from industry partners, supporting a five-year research and innovation program that also includes eight clinical studies.

The company will continue its activities under the banner of Demcon electronics. The Deventer-based organization specializes in RF technology, wireless communication, embedded systems and integrated electronics development. With this latest addition, the Demcon group now has a specialized company that is dedicated entirely to electronics development projects and has state-of-the-art testing facilities.

Groundbreaking technology for the treatment of neurological diseases

Curix, part of the Demcon group, is developing groundbreaking technology for the treatment of life-threatening and debilitating neurological diseases. This new technology makes it possible to temporarily open the blood-brain barrier, addressing one of the biggest challenges in neurology. With this technology, drugs for brain tumors and neurodegenerative conditions, such as Alzheimer's and Parkinson's disease, can be delivered more efficiently. The participation of Twinning Participaties allows Curix to develop an injector system suitable for initial clinical studies in humans. “Our ultimate goal is to contribute to the development of improved treatments for neurological diseases”, says Peter Frinking, managing director and chief scientific officer at Curix.
